Improved milk run and the first Autostore in the Czech Republic
Continental Automotive in Brandýs nad Labem manufactures electronics for cars from around the world. In 2020, it delivered approximately 16.7 million electronic products to customers, which it produces in a continuous operation. The material flow must also be adapted to this. The company’s continuously modernized warehouses have a total area of 18,000 square meters with a capacity of 23,000 pallets and 33,000 boxes. It handles up to 150 trucks a day and about 12,000 orders for components from production. In light of the expanding production, the fundamental question arises how to improve logistics flows and make better use of storage space within the company. That is why, within the vision of the “Digital Production Plant”, logistics processes are also being innovated and digitized. The case study provides details on streamlining material flows with an improved milk run concept or details on the introduction of Autostore technology, which Continental is installing in Brandýs nad Labem as the first company in the Czech Republic.
