Logistics, corporate responsibility, and economic welfare

Logistics plays a crucial role in all economies; it is mostly unseen in good times, but very visible in crises. The impact of logistics on people via the effects on inflation, the environment, unemployment, and incomes are fundamental. Hence, many questions regarding corporate responsibility in the logistics arena seek answers. In this presentation, we will first look at how global supply chain shocks have contributed to global core inflation, which in turn has had an undeniable negative impact on multiple aspects of society in recent years. Second, we will examine the question of sustainable supply chains and the need to integrate environmentally friendly practices into the logistics model in order to reduce or eliminate negative environmental impacts caused by supply chain logistics. Third, we will discuss how integrating generative AI into logistics can help optimize supply chains without necessarily creating long-term unemployment, which every industry – logistics included – has a responsibility to minimize.
